Loose Stone
Mark Griffitt
Mark was born in Nashville, TN, also known as Music City. Mark's father trained horses and in 1972 Mark's family relocated to the Barnwell area when his parents bought a farm in the small town of Kline, SC. Mark enjoyed the country life with his younger brother George as they spent time riding through the woods on dirt bikes, fishing and camping.
Mark always enjoyed music, even from an early age. Beginning in high school, his love for music grew stronger as he taught himself to play guitar and began singing. Mark and his brother formed a band in high school with some of their friends. They played secular music in clubs and festivals during those days. Mark received Christ as his Lord in his late twenties and turned his music career over to Him. He has been playing Christian music since he was saved. Mark enjoys sharing the gospel through music since his conversion.
"The Lord has blessed me richly, and I want to use the gifts He has given me for His glory."
Mark and his wife, Cynthia, are members at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church in Barnwell, SC. Cynthia teaches Sunday school while Mark was active in the music program, including choir, the Living Christmas Tree and Easter drama presentations. Mark played guitar with the praise team and this is where he and John began to sense a new musical direction from The Lord.
Mark states; "John Rutland and I have known each other for many years while attending Hagood Avenue Baptist Church. We have sung together in dramas and for special music events. God has worked in our lives and has brought us together for a full time ministry. John is a dear friend and I look forward to serving the Lord with him. The Lord has blessed me richly and I look forward to using the gifts He has given me for His glory".
